Case Studies – The Redevelopment Story - White Elephants, Eyesores, and Underutilized Property

Most communities have at least one underutilized or vacant site sticking a stick in the wheel of economic and community vibrancy. While these properties can vary widely in terms of potential use, condition, size, ownership, etc., the one thing they have in common is that they represent both a persistent challenge and a grand opportunity. This panel will discuss how to identify sites for advancement, as well as how to prioritize, assess, plan for, and advance redevelopment of them. The conversation will build on real life examples from across New York State.

  • Moderator – Michael N’dolo – Director of Economic Development, MRB Group
  • Panelists
    • Case Study: Livingston Correctional Facility – Bill Bacon, Director, Livingston County Economic Development
    • Case Study: Victory Lofts – Hon. Jason Garnar, County Executive, Broom County
    • Site Reuse and Advancement Studies: various – Tracy Verrier, Dep. Director of Economic Development, MRB Group
